One of my old friends... well, he ain't old but I am ... is trying to get me involved with an organization; IDPA which I think stands for International Defensive Pistol Association... that he belongs to and visits a couple of times a month...

http://www.idpa.com/

Combat shooting... or as I like to refer to it.... "How not to shoot yourself in the foot"

I told him I was too old to get involved but he is an old Marine and you know how they are... so here we go...

Just another thread that may bore you but then again... you might find it interesting.

Here are a couple of tidbits from this Sunday at his range in his back yard... we all live in the woods so it's no big deal to go out in your back yard and fire off a couple of hundred rounds... which we do quite often... the cows are in another pasture... so they are safe... at least from his perspective...

Practice makes perfect and when you are as old and fat as I am........ ya betta damn well practice.

This is Big Bad John... with his 9mm

and another of John slowing down a little...

and one of me... not too fast but accurate... I might mention that that is a Beretta 'Cougar' .40... a very good shooting weapon.

and a couple of targets... from the last video... I think John said that was a 10" center circle at 10 steps (about 10 yds... or 30 feet)

Image Image Image

I suppose I could probably shoot good enough to stop someone... if they are made out of brown cardboard and stand still 8) 8) 8)

I have to admit... I am a lot slower than I probably should be... John is pretty quick but you should see some of the real professionals at the meets... I will go to one in a couple of weeks and take a few videos and post them on here if you might be interested... it is excellent practice, and we all should practice... especially if you as old and slow as I am...

... I have to tell you this... I actually out shot John in accuracy but he was much faster than me... and besides... he is single and has a bunch of good looking girlfriends that I get to look at from time to time... I don't know if they can shoot or not... I never asked... 8)

Good Shooting, Bill!

Who was shaving your targets? I noticed lots of toilet paper stuck to the faces...
