Unfortunatly I would bet money that you will not get it for the reason you put. That is not an acceptable reason in the Sheriffs eyes, everyone wants personal protection...Whoever told you to write that is WAY off, thats actually the worst thing to write
. You need to be specific.. like "because for my job I apprehend people and I have ran into many of them and have been placed in many threatening situations with myself or family because of what I do and the people I deal with" type of thing... but very specific.. What makes you need one more then the average citizen wanting protection in other words. Of course if you have a restraining order on someone thats always good-- a gimme. or if you have had one in the past you can work it.
Also, make sure you can elaborate your training of the weapon, like having taken the PC 832 firearms course in the county of San Berdo through the sheriffs where you live will help them with approval knowing that you have been well trained.
