Just a quick note as a follow up to the great CrabSmash...

Dave and I rode our bikes to Fredericksburg and got a room at the Quality Inn... got up around 9 or so and rode up to the Marine Corps Museum outside of Quantico Va... I am here to tell you, it was awe inspiring, especially for an old Marine like me... I did absolutely nothing heroic or dangerous while I was in... about all I did was drink beer and chase women and try to stay out of the Sgts. way... I did manage an honorable discharge and for what it is worth, I think it had a very positive influence on me as a young kid at the time... I always say that any semblance of a man I may be was very certainly formed in those short months and years in the Corps.

Dave and me in front of the Museum and Dave on the bike..............WHICH IS FOR SALE FOR $8500.

So, having said all that... the visit was great.

We left around 2PM or so and coming down Rt. 1 toward Fredericksburg, something happened to my other bike that Dave was riding and the shifter would not go into 2nd gear!!! I figured I was going to have to ride home with Dave on the back of my bike and come back up and pick up the bike with my trailer... well, as luck would certainly have it... we passed a biker shop just north of Fredericksburg that was actually open on Sunday afternoon... it was frequented by... let me say... a rough crowd of bikers... we stopped and the guy in the shop... who looked like he could eat 10 penny nails and drink tiger pee... walked out, offered to take a look at the bike... and in 5 minutes, adjusted the linkage on the shifter and charged me nothing... nothing... I gave him $20 because I could not in good conscious ask his technical help and not pay for it.... I told him to take that and get a 6 pack... he smiled and said... "6 pack hell... I'll get a 5th.... and by the way.... would you all like a drink...?" we declined and left in a much better mood... and got home to Kenbridge around 8:30pm... safe and sound and rather tired...

end of story.

Bill,
You are a Nam Era Vet and we thank you for your service. People don't realize how hard one has to work to stay out of sight of a Marine SGT, combat pay should have been received

Sounds like you and dave had a goodtime.

Luvonda,
That picture is Dave and Bill, on both of Bill's bikes...HD's, you know you can't have just one...kinda like a Lays potato chip!

I meant 1% as in an Outlaw Club, in the original context as it referred to AMA members that were 99% good and that there was 1% bad, taken from an old Life Magazine cover story of the Booze Fighters...now there is some old school Biker lore from the back of the rack!

We have Pagans, Hells Angels and Outlaws and then there are smaller groups like the Rebels, the Kingsmen and others...

The 1%ers are excellent bail clients. If one of their guys misses a court date, they will go get him and drag him back to court or jail.

Several of the "clubs" out here use their club house as collateral. So there is no way they are going to loose it by one of their guys FTAing.

I'm just too chicken to work with them. Big, burly, hairy guys on hogs that cost more than my truck, scare me. Hell, some of their women scare me too!

Tony
Just get the chapter President and the Sgt at Arms to sign, and no worries! The other reason is that they don't want to give LE an excuse to come snooping, and a member with a warrant will do just that. A raid looking for the wanted guy yields up all kinds of trouble that they don't want.

Besides, it is a macho thing to handle your business, not afraid of jail etc.

Cool Cool. Just never heard them referred to as 1 % ers before.

Had Outlaws and Old Stylers where I grew up. Met a few when I was beerslinging and shooting pool. Always good to me.
One made my first child a small terrarium when she was born (well before I started working in the bar).

We don't seem to have any around here, guess they don't like our weather.

No, Scott, I was talking about the building. It is awesome looking . . strong and regal . . . now of course the one fella that I know ain't too bad looking neither . . .
