Post subject: | Too much gear or too little |
I just posted on the topic about what we keep in our vehicles for work. My question is what constitutes too much or too little. Is there a real answer? I'm a believer in having and not needing than needing and not having. The biggest issue is in regards to what we carry on our person. For example, I know Rex is on here and I've seen his videos online, as well as other recovery agents that go in wearing duty belts/gun belts. I'd love to be able to do that, but it's hard to conceal all that. Normally I'm carrying my Glock 17, Surefire, handcuffs, two cell phones (one personal the other as a backup and for pre-texts), Taser C2 (in a holster from Tuffproducts.com), all of which are on my belt. Sometimes I'd like to be more overt just for the sake of being able to sufficiently carry all the things we might encounter, but it doesn't necessarily work out that way. I do have a vest to carry that as well as a duty/gun belt (for higher-risk pulls), but what do you all think, and what do you all carry on your person? ...I'd really like to have the grappling hook gun and "batterang" pouch with me too. |

I personaly wear my duty belt most of the time.it has my firearm, cuffs, spray, baton, and radio on it.I wear a velcro web belt underneath my duty belt so if i want to take it off and be more covert than all i need to do is peel it off.winter time and cold weather is easier to wear that gear obviously due to being able to wear jackets that conceal it all.summer time though i will try to wear minimal gear on my regular belt like cuffs, spray, and my firearm, with a over shirt to cover it.now if i know for a fact that my skip is definately in a certain house i will wear my duty belt.I would be wearing a vest on all occassions if i owned one!! i sold one a long time ago and never got another one,so if you know anyone getting rid of one let me know. |

Ben Just pointing out......you have "less than a year" listed as experience. Its been more than a year, hasn't it? Something you might want to change....unless I am wrong. |

There's an old adage out there, that I first observed as a child living in St. Louis. It's stuck with me ever since. It was an advertisement posted on the fence of a very old cemetary, not far from where I lived. It stated, quite simply, "Better to have and not need, than need and not have". Needless to say, they were sellin' plots! Carry whatever keeps you comfortable and prepared. |

When I introduce myself as a Virginia bondsman, the usual reply is "I don't think I'll ever need you..."... to which I respond without fail... "My service is just like an umbrella... if it doesn't rain you will never need me, but on the occasion that it does rain... I am invaluable; here are several of my cards... for the rainy day." They usually smile, but then put the cards in their wallets.... thank you. |
