(in the UK) That the crime rate has rose drastically-burglary being the highest riser, whether there are many more arrests regarding this rise i can only speculate!. So... In the USA, the credit crunch, has crime risen thus resulted in more "business" for you? Is your career proving to be credit crunch proof? Or are you still going as normal? |

The bail bonding side of our business is doing better than it ever has. As far as the recovery side, we write fairly tight paper when we bond people. We don't have that many skips. |

The courts here in Missouri have figured out that it's cheaper to issue a summons than it is a warrant. Thusly, the bail industry here is pretty slow right now, and subsequently, even more competetive. I've only been in the game for several months, but I'm told by some "old timers" ('Sup Andy! ), that business is slower than it's been in as long as a decade. |

My biz is way down here. The jails are so full that they aren't taking misdemeanors unless there is an active warrant or it is a DV. DUI's are allowed to have a sober person come drive them home and given a summons, or if nobody is available they are only held for a few hours and released with a summons. The felony arrests are such large bonds that very few can afford the fee. With very few exceptions, I have stopped doing bonds on credit, cos I mostly never get paid. |

It seems around here that the bonding business is really really slow compared to the norm. The recovery side isn't all to bad though but now that I think about it, more times than most recently it seems like the bond is being revoked due to non-payment. Not too many people have been missing court around here lately. |

Virginia seems to be in a major slump due to .... IMHO, Pretrial services and a major reduction in bond amounts and a major increase in PR bonds. I know of several very prominent bondsmen that are seriously considering closing up shop... and several others that did not renew their licenses in June. ... as for me......... I hope it picks back up but I am not going anywhere.... mainly because I have no where to go and besides... I'm too old to get a real job..... and I like baloney sandwiches anyway... |
