Post subject:  Industry Website Hackers

A few weeks ago, a new industry directory, http://www.badbonds.com, was hacked into and knocked completely offline; In recent days, allegedly someone has been hacking into FRN, and today, someone hacked into http://www.trackdownrecoverynetwork.com and knocked it completely offline. This happened between 1330 hrs cst and 1900 hrs cst.

Additionally, a couple of weeks ago, someone hacked into all of Frank Abramovitz's (AMK) websites and knocked them offline.

Whomever this person is, is obviously an IT professional and knows about this stuff. Like anything else, from what little I know about this stuff, "digital fingerprints" have been left behind. It will be up to other IT professionals like Phill, Tim, and whomever else to physically conduct an IT investigation into their mainframes and trace the hacker's IP address, date, time, etc.

This person is costing all of the company's time and money, as well as disrupting the networks. I would suggest that all of the website owners/moderators work together in tracing this person down. Everyone makes mistakes, does something stupid, leaves a bread crumb behind, etc. eventually this person will do the same. Just a matter of time.

In the meantime, I strongly urge everyone to change all passwords on all boards, e-mails, forums, blogs, etc. Physically run a spyware check NOW, etc.

Take care and God Bless.

HUH?

I don't know about any of you but I am tired of those types and the dang spammers!

BTW - there are Hackers and there are Crackers

Hackers are people seeking information (maybe going where they aren't supposed to but they cause NO Harm!)

Crackers are people who "crack" code. They go into sites with the intention of causing havoc.

I really wish they would use the terms correctly - it really aggravates me! Just a pet peeve (amongst my many others!) LOL

Has anyone contacted the other directories to see if they have any information on who is doing this?

Just another idea, but Rex's member list is closed, and only a handful of people can even view the member profiles. I don't know how that would work with the Bots and websites, though.

What do you mean you disagree?

You aren't tired of these types and the spammers? You want more of that?

Or you disagree with crackers vs hackers?
