I would suggest not applying for a work visa as a bail fugitive recovery agent or bail enforcement agent. Our immigration attorney friend believes that the chances of getting a work visa under that title is slim and none. This is not a area of work that is in short supply of qualified American workers.

Plus you usually have to have a "sponsor" ready and waiting with a job for you.

Maybe not in CO yet but, most states are cracking down on background checks for even more mundane jobs such as security guards, truck drivers, etc. If their is a problem completing the check quickly, they just deny it.

I would be curious to know how they handle a foreign national.

On a personal note, I always wanted to visted Ireland. Why did your friend find it depressing?? Should I cancel our 20th anniversary cruise of the British Isles that include a stop in Ireland?

Tony's right. In NJ and DE they already require a fingure print scan to be sent to both the state's id bureau and the FBI for background checks to be made just to drive a container truck (Gas, chemical, waste, etc).
