Adam let me give you a little timeline---in the late 90's we had the infamous arizona case where buglers pretended to be bounty hunters and killed some people that was the beginning of the problems--we had little skermishes with some bad publicity now and again and a show called the bounty hunters with some charactors that was pretty good--some problems and a little bad press people started in power started watching the industry and cleaning up the microscopes and liberals started watching even closer--again a few problems would rear their ugly head and disappear--now comes the luster fiasco and boom du-du is the king of bea and the darling of the media--a california judge calls him a criminal and vigilante and he collects no money on the luster situation and in fact becomes a fugitive himself and gets a tv show and becomes rich and famous--now pop up the wanabee schools teaching every tom dick and harry how to be a bea in three wonderful days--butchers bakes and candle stick makers are now out hunting dreaming of the wonderful lifestyle they can have just like du-du--you know that these people are a danger to themselves-the skip and the general public and you also know that ther are bondsmen out there that would hire anybody that is cheaper than everybody else(ie capitol bonding which lost millions and almost closed down surety bail in many states)now here we are today thousands of untrained and unqualified du-du wanabees roaming our streets and causing havoc for the real pro--we all get labeled as clowns by leo and the thinking general public

another industry (the repo industry)where i work went thru the same problems a few years ago with tv shows glamerizing repos and a glut of wannabees messing up the field and doing cut rate work-but most have gone by the wayside now because the liabilty issues have caused the banks to check for insurance on their contractors and the wannabees cannot afford to insure themselves so they are the ones that died not the pros--we stayed the course and won the repo wars--our clientel now relizes they have to pay for pros and they do--i repo about 1500 units a year since 1988 and have never had a claim upheld against me-

I only hope we can hold on long enough for the wanabees to die out if we cannot than bea will die one night with the stroke of a pen in the halls of our federal legislators with out even a fight or a fair hearing-that is the facts not fiction--so it is time for the pro bea to say no more we stand our ground we police our own we tell the legislators the facts we stamp out the du-du all legally through licensing and regulation and we prosper or we give up and crawl under a rock waiting to be squashed like common bugs

My point I am trying to make is that all you people do is blame DOG. I never said he didn't do nothing wrong. You keep writing back to me all the bad stuff Dog is doing. The guy IS a idiot and IS hurting this profession. But you make it sound like EVERY moron out there trying to get into this buisness illegally is because of Dog. There's alot of other things out there causing this industry to fall other than Dog. Yes Dog makes us look like clowns. But all the wannabees out there doing dumb $hit, I am sure that not all of them got "into" the buisness because of Dog. Even if Dog never existed, I am sure that there would of still been idiots out there trying to get into this profession illegally from all the other shows and movies. All I am trying to say is there are more things to worry about then JUST Dog.

Adam you are correct we are being attacked by all sides and du-du is not the only threat--that is exactly why many of us support licensing training removing felons from this business backround checks etc--yak and some other beas with scott olsen from the nibe just took on nj and won--if they had not won nj would have been another state with no beas--this is what a group of motivated beas can accomplish--hawaii is another battle ground i still belive we will win there-felons do not belong in this field any more than they should be cops or co's---read the postings and you will see a group of non beas expressing opinions about something they know little or nothing about--please believe me i will fight for their right to express those opinions but in reality they are nothing but farts in the wind- make a big stink and just blow away --again their experiance and knowledge is very limited or non exsistant--it is not just du-dus fan but wannabees in general that hurt us the worst-at this point i believe we must attack on every front and du-du is the most visable target- every trained and compatent bea most get on the train and fight this hoard of and i will use your words idiots because they are the vocal ones that powers that be hear and see--again as a bea yourself you must relize this mob of wannabees and worshippers put you in danger every time you do your job with integrity, honesty, proffessionalism and hard work--if you can not see this than i have not been effective in doing my job as i see it-not only arresting bad guys but helping good beas prosper and grow in this calling--you also must know that penn is one of the states at risk now since the rash of crap that has happen this winter--you and all beas in penn need to get to your legislators and express your opinion before one day soon your are relageted to a museum along with the saber tooth tiger and the carrier pigon--extinct

I am not a pro BEA nor do I consider myself a wanna-be either I am someone who is here to learn about something that interest me. That being said I have been away from the board for awhile now do to personal issues, I return tonight to see more Chapman worshipers filling this board with Chapman worship. How can anyone watch what he does on his show and know what he has done in his past and still stick up for him? Is this what we as a country are becoming? More and more people these days idolize and worship people for doing what is wrong because it is "cooler" or more entertaing then the people who do their jobs the way they are suppose to be. Chapman, Domino and numerous other outlets are in part responible for the actions of the people who give BEA's bad names. I say in part because they can not be blamed for the fact that these people are not mature enough to not be influenced by the actions of others. However, I argue that if a true BEA such as LAW, HGUNNER or REX where given the oppurtunity like Chapman was they would take the oppurtunity and display how the job should be done therefore, I do blame Chapman and the movie domino for not doing so! Well that is my opinion as a non BEA whatever it is worth. To all the pros keep up the good work! and al the Chapman worshipers I think it is time to just agree to disagree and move on to some topics that help promote the work of real BEA's and that help the people looking for knowledge!

The people I know are not "wanna be's" Gunner - three are US Marshall's, two are bondsmen who have been in the business for 15+ years, and one is a pro BEA who has actually made an arrest or two, or few hundred - I never asked him how many because I have known him all of my adult life.

Again, you generalize and you spout off to people without knowing the facts. I am sure there are people out there who want to become a "bounty hunter" because of Duane Chapman, just like there are females who think it would be so cool to be like 'Domino' - it's just a fact of life. Now Dallas swat is on TV - how many wanna be's are going to run to the Police Academy to become SWAT members? CSI is all over the place and enrollment in criminalistic and forensic programs has skyrocketed.

I am not saying that Duane Chapman is perfect, but you sure as hell cannot blame every problem with the bail enforcement industry on him. If you want to blame someone - blame the gullible SOB who has no initiative to move forward with his life unless he sees it on the boob tube.

Sorry - there are many bigger problems in the world than him - take some of the time and energy you are wasting ranting about how evil he is and make the world a better place. We have a crisis in our country right now in everything from poverty to drugs to a corrupt political system to elderly without means to care for themselves...take some time and energy and to make the world a better place.

As far as how can I watch Duane Chapman "knowing what he's done in the past" - easy because it's in the past. I also loved Tim Allen's comedy and have had the pleasure of meeting him - he spent time in prison for drug related charges. What I should have done - smacked him in the head and not watched him because he has criminal PAST?

It's entertainment folks - just like the soaps, or Jeopardy - it's on the TV to give people a choice about how to fill an hour or so of their lives. There are these neat little inventions called "remote controls"...if you don't like him change the channel, there is more than one and noone holds a gun to your head and forces you to watch.

I get emails and phone calls every day from wanna-be's that have seen movies or tv way too much. I got an email from a guy who said he was a bea from Washington and was moving to Michigan and was looking for work. He said he was experianced and could start in a few days. So we figured we give him a case to work on. We told him about the case and that it was a hard one, his response was " I think that I can close it in a few days." Well needless to say it has been 3 weeks and haven't heard a word from him.

The bondsman, other bea's and myself have been working this case for a long time. This guy skiped back in 2003 it's now 2006 and still nothing.
Survallince has been a part of our life on on this case. I am not the only bea that has handed this case off, everybody that has been on it has done it. The pay out is only 750.00 but the bonds man still wants him back. We get other beas that work for other bondsman that think they can capture this man, we go over every thing with them and tell go get some. With that being said if any of Dog's followers or or Dog him self want to prove they are the best bounty hunters well then come get some!!

We will turn over the entire amount to the man, woman, cat, dog or monkey that brings him in.

you are still missing the point --federal marshalls are not beas-they have different rules of conduct and by the way du-dus past keeps him from being any thing in law enforcement-nor do i give a rats butt about his past it is his present that counts-his abuse of the present bea system and law structure is what i care about--I can not change world hunger or homelessness in this country(I know you do not want my views on these problems-way to right wing for most) I can effect change in my chosen calling--getting back to bondsmen - i do not know who you know so i can not comment on his experiance same goes for the bea you know--most likely they are good people and deserve your respect-i know many good bondsmen and many bad bondsmen some are worse than the criminals they bail out and i would not trust them at all - there are many i would trust with my life--the same goes for bea-- again without knowing you i have no idea what your life experiance is --mine is out here for all all to see--again i do not care one way or the other if I convince you- as you say you are not in this field-so just as my opinion of ER nursing is not relevent to conversations (by the way I have been a ny paramedic and a and a nh emtp since 1972) because of my lack of practical knowledge in your field -your opinions are also dust in the wind--as far as all matters go i also have my opinions on them but this forum is about bea not hunger or homelessness or any other problem and yes i have practical solves for many of these problems but practical is not the way of the world-until people understand that money is god we will never cure the ills until we as people accept the fact that we need to be self reliant again and not rely on the goverment to take care of us we will always have these problems

Thanks Hadley. I for one want this forum to return to its former glory and professionalism of being a source of information, training, comraderie, and professional networking.

It's like I keep preaching: negativity drives people away. This is not a Duane Chapman website...it is a website for the use of and by Professional BEA's/FRA's, Licensed pi's, collection specialists, and other legitimate professionals.

I for one was/ am on the verge of leaving this forum myself if it continued to degenerate into a Chapman only forum.
