The CA Governor sign the new and improved PC 1299 legislation bill AB 2029 into law on Sunday.

Effective 1/1/2013, everyone will have to be PC 1299 compliant again. There is no sunsetting in this bill. It will be the law forever unless it is repealed.

However, I will be pushing to improve it even more as far as requiring specific recovery education and eventually actual licensing.

Currently the bail agent prelicensing is 12 hours. After Jan. 1, 2013 the prelicensing class will be a 20 hour course.

So, now is the time to get that course completed. I recommend BailSpeak also if you are going strictly for recovery certification.

If you are going to obtain a bail agent license, then I would recommend the CBAA. Yours truly teaches part of that course.

PM me with any questions.

I was contacted a few months ago by a Nicholas Griffith. It seemed to me that he was "fishing" for something, so I stringed him along for a while (yes, that pun was intended). Eventually, after not getting what he was after, he quit calling me. He sounded like a white guy over the phone. He purported himself to be residing in Detroit, Michigan, with the intent to relocate to Los Angeles, California. I have his email address and phone number...

Now that you mentioned that he was from Detroit, if thats true, he could be a "blue eye brother." He just sounded black to me.

But he was from Ohio and then Virginia. At least that is what he told me.

Either way, if this is the same guy, its all a scam. We need to publicize these scams when we have positive proof.

Any school, any person for that matter that asks to be paid by a Green Dot card should be looked at very carefully. There is no way to track that money to a partcular person once it is sent.

He's been "from"or "in" both Garden Grove and Huntington Beach, here in Orange County.

Spoke to him again and he said his names is marvin griffith and the main company is called united states judicial enforcement. I was told that he is "flying out to meet us tomorrow" so we will see if we meet this guy or not. Just like i was told since saturday that he would email me paperwork and information that i still have not received.

Let me pile on. The situation the OP describes just reeks of scam. There are to many reputable folks out there to waste any consideration on these folks.

If you have the time and it doesn't cost you any money, if you could meet withn this guy(s) and get what ever info you can, I would really appreciate it.

We need to put people like him out of business. Or at least prevent them from getting into the bail recovery business.

Right now, they have not broken any laws, but if they take money and don't provide a service, that is fraud. And I would like to catch him for that.

So heres an update on this situation. First the guy told me his name is marvin griffith but on his voicemail he says his name is nicholas griffith. Then when iam suppost to meet him today at his "office". The address he gives me is to a chili's restaurant. Which is 17011 beach blvd huntington beach. I call him he says hes in a meeting in san diego and i was late. When i talked to him on saturday he said to meet him anytime monday from 11am to 5pm. I showed up there at 2:25. The reason iam meeting him is because i was stupid and i did pay him $250 which he said i would get refunded. This is his cell that i have 818-279-1133. So pretty much iam out $250, and i just hope this posting and my posting on ripoffreport.com will be a warning for everyone not to make my mistake. I really hope this guy gets whats coming for him. For doing this to hard working people tryin to get by, $250 might not be alot to some people but thats alot of money to me.

I received a call yesterday from a CA PH# 818-279-1133. It also sounded like a well spoken black male. He said he was based out of CA but looking to recruit agents to work for an insurance company to do immigration bond recoveries in the NJ / NY area. He said that the insurance company would provide firearms, badges, company car etc... Once I heard this I knew it was BS and being that I was busy at the moment I just said I'm not interested and I don't know anyone who would be, end of conversation.

I'm not sure what his scam is, perhaps selling some BS or non existent training or gear. Nothing new about this kind of non sense, maybe he's wirking with Anthony Oliver.

Maybe we are creating the unintended consequence of educating him exponentially with each phone call. He clearly is woefully uninformed about this business which would make me think he is not that prepared. I fear we are polishing his act for him by continuing to take his phone calls, humorous as they may be.

This may be another version of the hustle going on in MD where criminals are representing themselves as bail bondsmen, negotiating the bail, collecting money and then trying to sell the bond to someone who will post it.
