Reservation?

We have several Reservations here in Florida also.. the Tribal Laws are totally separate from Local Laws surrounding them. If it were my skip I would most likely call their Reservation Police to consult with them and go by their direction. The tribal police usually know the people living within the reservation and they might be able to convince the person to surrender himself to ya..?

But hopefully one of the folks here will jump in and give you the proper advice. Since I never had to go onto any Reservation but to only gamble and lose my money.

Well thanks for ur help anyways man. And the rez police might be helpful 2 me but i kinda doubt it. They dont do very much crime stoppin out here in colorado

Here in Arizona, we've had to go after fugitives on Native American reservations. Maintaining favorable relations with local PD is essential, since we all work together. What's worked for us in the past is to call the reservation police department just like we would for any other skip in a non-Native jurisdiction. Only for us here, in a non-Native area we advise PD of our presence but let them know we don't require backup at the moment, just giving a courtesy call. With reservation PD, we let them call the shots. Often times they escort us to the location, some reservations we're not allowed past the driveway apron or curb without PD escort. Each one's different. It also gets more complicated when the skip is Native American and even more hairy--when the skip is from that rez.

Best bet is to contact that reservation's police dept and work with them. It's a sovereign nation-they're in charge, and hopefully they'll be cool and work with you.

Do u know if there is any Special licensing that i need or is my certification from The american institute if Bail enough. I heard that I would need some sort of federal license but im not sure if thats correct?

Personally, I only have my ADOI reg for Arizona & that's enough here. Not sure how different the law might be in CO, but since reservations are federal, I would think whatever permits you to perform bail enforcement in CO should be sufficient. Still want to check with tribal PD, though.

You may not go on any reservation without the tribal police or a member of the council of the reservation you are wanting to go on. By your questions you seem to be real new and my advise to you would be you need to study your States law before you go onto any reservation land as the laws on the reservation are not anything like the laws you may or may not know. There is no such animal as any Federal Bail Recovery Agent licensing. Any of the reservations can be a very dangerous place even for seasoned Recovery Agents. If you have a client with a skip on the reservation it would be to your advantage to give the case to a seasoned Agent or hire one to assist you. No one here would want you to get hurt or arrested.

You need to understand that Native American reservations are considered sovereign nations: thus making an apprehension there would fall under similar laws as if you were going to a foreign country. They have their own set of laws and a seperate judicial system. I have made pick-ups on Indian land but always with the Tribal police. Even as a private investigator, I still need to contact the Tribal PD before I can conduct any type of investigation on the reservation. Failure to do so can bring all kinds of fedral charges down on you. I am not aware of any type of federal license to allow you to do recoveries on a reservation. If the Tribal PD won't help, contact the FBI as they do have some limited powers on Indian land.
