WOW . . . Did the folks in charge not see that this is not a good idea ? What are they using the Prisons for ?

The prisons are over-crowded. Many state prison inmates have been sent to county jails to do their time. I think that the powers that be should look into building tent cities (like Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio) to resolve the issue of crowded state prisons.

are they treating them as, what we call 309 / Trustee Status, when they come from the Prison to the Jail (having completed a significant amount of their ADC sentence) to finish out their time.

We have 3 of them at our County Jail . . . they usually stay about 3 years and then return to Prison for kickout.

I think that if a facility is expected to hold more than 3 Long Term Prisoners then that Facility is infact a satellite of the Prison and should be staffed as such.

The Tent City idea would be prime on that case.. however, I think that your State is populated with way too many bleeding heart liberals, and a Tent City would offend their senses. Will have to wait and see how the Public, when after a few deaths at the hands of those that should have remained in an actual Prison setting, react.

Now, that I just don't know. I do agree with you and I don't believe that California will ever see a "tent city" of it's own. The situation over here is just crazy...
