It Happens to the Best of Us

BIG difference between a radar detector taken while at a movie (HGUNNER) and a weapon left in a vehicle as standard practice. I myself would not leave one even if I had some sort of lock box in it and yes I have had items stolen that were left in vehicles also, thankfully I learned from it and have never (as of yet) had a weapon stolen from one. It could happen, sometimes when I enter a store I leave it behind in a locked vehicle. I hope that it never happens I, would not want some low life to use it and kill someone and have it on my conscience and I hope for you that they nail this scum bag to the wall before it is used for the wrong reasons.

True enough... I for one am paranoid whenever I am traveling and my weapon was not with me (ie; flying... I do not trust those guys whatsoever, too many stories of bags being stolen and items missing).

Now I have to say from my time in KY... Shotguns are usually displayed quite visably in the windows of pickups (though I do not see to many these days). I never really agreed with this practice but surprisingly I do not recall working one case where a weapon was stolen from a set up like that, odd.

In any case I think Ruffin probably has it right that it was a target specific attack. Unless the weapons are in a standup bolted to the floor Gun Safe then even if kept in a house they can be stolen. Just recently there were some people going around here and knocking on doors... when no one answered they kicked the door in and burglarized the house, in broad daylight.

Now personally, most times my weapons follow me around like little puppy dogs LOL. Though I can't carry my long arm around so that's usually in my house and secured, pistols are in lockboxes except for the one I keep within arms reach.

Crap happens. Back when I had a t-top Camaro someone busted the drivers side window and stole all my martial arts training gear I had in the back seat as well as my stereo. Since everything was tinted and I never blasted my radio I am speculating that it was someone who knew what I had in the car but who knows . Thankfully my actual weapons were not in there at the time but they very well could have been.

You are ALL correct, Crap does happen - however to take a cavalier attitude - that it is Gods Will OR that it was taken to "serve A Higher Purpose" is also CRAP!
Most likely it was someone that knew that is where Ruffin kept his weapon, in that case one should take even greater care in the storing of such. Bishopp a deadly weapon is a far cry from martial arts equipment and a stereo. HOWEVER I for one would be really pissed if someone snagged my tunes.
RUFFIN, THO I WAS NOT ATTACKING YOU ( I did not laugh at you) YES I DO THINK THAT IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE TO STORE ONES GEAR IN THE BED OF A PICKUP TRUCK EVEN WITH A CAMPER TOP.
I drive a soft top jeep and would not leave my stuff in it. Even knowing that anyone that knows me would not take anything from me - they just might have to call me when they go to jail.
EVEN SO -JUST because CRAP DOES HAPPEN - I take extra care in securing my gear.

I was just informed of this last night: During our rash of home/vehicle burglaries 1 of the victims was our own County Sheriff...Blake Dorning who is a 23 year leo veteran. His unmarked Ford Crown Victoria was smashed into (like my truck was) and his briefcase and all of its contents, plus a high powered sniper rifle were stolen.

They eventually caught 1 suspect and linked him to 43 such burglaries. However, my shotgun was not among the items recovered.

Like I said, it happens to the best of us.
