My issue in CO is that an agent can accept any amount up to 15% of the bond. If my cost to my insurance company exceeds that of another agent, they can write it for less than I can. That is where competition comes into play. Who is willing to write a bond for the least amount, and then what is the writing agent willing to pay if the person becomes an FTA on the bond.

There are multiple issues involved with every bond we write and with every forfeiture we work. If we write a bad bond we should expect to pay a fair price, and if we retrieve a person on a forfeiture, we should also collect a fair price.
