I am not paranoid, or propriety about the general info (the volume or the dollar amount) on the bonds I write. This info is easily gained from my state report. I have to turn in a report to my state's Division of Insurance (as every bond agent in my state) has to do every year. I doubt they will release the info, but I have mine, just as most every agent has their's. I won't give income or expense info, and that really isn't an issue since state's vary on fees allowed and bondsmen vary on fees collected.

I don't have the secret to getting a list of all bail agents in the U.S.A. Most states have their licensing info available online, so you should be able to get lists of licensed bail agents that way. It will involve researching every state, so will be time consuming.

The licensing requirements for bail enforcement agents varies from state to state, and their tracking is much less on a state level, so you will have less luck there.

I would suggest that you prepare a questionaire with the questions you are researching and either mail it to everyone licensed in every state, or do a "random sampling" of bondsmen from each state. Attach a cover letter with your info, references, etc, and explaining what you are doing, and why you are doing it. Including a SASE will get you more reponses, but will not guarantee them. Given people's natural reluctance to give info, along with the overall lack of trust in the bail industry, you will be lucky to get a 10% return. Not requiring the agent to give any personal info but keeping the questions and who is answering them neutral would be a benefit to you.

I hope that I have helped, and wish you the best in your endeavors.
