Hello, I am a 15-year-old living in New Jersey. I have two rather liberal parents, and therefore I have zero experience with firearms.
However, I am a brown belt in Kenpo and I consider myself decent at hand-to-hand combat. In even the worst situations, I believe I can hold my own. I practice with weights almost every night.
Before I'm actually able to go into the BEA business, I'd like to be well prepared. I don't intend for BE to be my career, but I'd like to be an apprentice to a real BEA in college.
I'd like to know, what do you guys think are valuable skills and physical requirements BEAs should have?
How far should I be able to run? How long should it take me?
How far should I be able to sprint? How long should it take me?
How would I go about practicing dynamic entries?
How would I go about practicing information gathering?

cool, they are getting younger!
First off, you have to be in better mental shape than physical shape. Both are extremely important to your future success. As you have learned in martial arts, mind strength and discipline are essential skill sets. Once an opponent has rented space in your head, you have been defeated.
Chasing fugitives and running fast...hmmm! The element of surprise is at your disposal and I would advise using it often. You don't sweat as much.
I ran a 4.9 second 40 yard dash in full pads when playing College Football, but that was 25 years ago. I am older and much slower, so I must rely on my wit.
Education...stay in school, learn foreign languages to the point of being fluent on a street level. Learn the assets of the information age. Study people, behaviors and cultures and you will go far.
Most impotrtantly, be a kid as long as you can, you will work the rest of your life!

Listen to Scott. Consider him like a "weird Uncle". The uncle that no one talks about. BUT, Scott knows what he is talking about, when he states to stay in school. Make education Number #1!

The previous information is great. The only thing I would add is that, a ground game style would be beneficial to your hand to hand experience. I was a Mixed Martial Artist for years, back a few years ago. Most street fights, including those in this line of work, end up on the ground. I know this is part of your training, but concentrating on Ju-jitsu, Judo, and others will help. Out of 100 fights, 97 will go to the ground and the others are one punch fights. Also, might I add that, in my experience with "other lines of Enforcement", keeping from having to fight is the best way to handle things. Less than lethal alternatives will be your most important back up.
Education is the thing that sets a Millionaire Mindset and separates people that are good at their profession from those that are great at theirs. Never allow your mind to grow dormant. Also, realize that not all education comes from a classroom. Heck, Bill Gates was a "C" student that didn't finish college. He just reads, ALOT, and hangs out with people that are where he wants to be. That kind of education is priceless, yet it isn't as expensive as tuition.

I concur with Scott and other responses. Your physical skills may help when you are in direct confrontation, but it is the mental ones that will help you find them and capture them. Continue your schooling, and learn all that you can in skiptracing and research skills. Self (or pro-active) defense methods may be a part of this, but the ability to locate a defendant comes first. If you can't find them, you can't fight them.
